1959 Gibson LG-0
Vintage 1959 Gibson LG-0, serial # S-2990-14.
Earlier LG-0's like this tend to have a better sound than the '60's examples, and this is no exception. This is without a doubt the cleanest, most mint example available anywhere. Excellent + condition. Closet kept, not played played for over 40 years.
Gibson LG-0 (1959), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, natural mahogany finish, mahogany body and neck with rosewood fingerboard. The LG-0 was designed for student players and teaching studios as a solid, good playing and inexpensive guitar to get young hopefuls playing a Gibson from the get-go. It features plain all solid wood mahogany construction; the tortoise celluloid bound top is ladder braced with a small 1930's style rectangular rosewood bridge (later examples used a plastic bridge that proved problematic). Overall length is 39 1/2 in. (100.3 cm.), 14 1/2 in. (36.8 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/2 in. (11.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
